Chapter 14

*5 Months Later*

THE FEBRUARY WIND rushed his face soon as he got out of his car. It had been five months since the “Block Party Massacre.” Besides two girls from the South Side getting jumped at the car wash, a big fight between dudes from the North and South Side at a club, and the loss of Big E and Company. For the most part, the beef between the two sides had finally subside.

Logik was about to walk into the county jail to visit Black. For the past three months he had been visiting Black at least once a month and also helped to make sure his legal affairs was in order. Shortly after the “Block Party Massacre,” he went to visit Black. Black had watched the news on his cell block concerning the massacre on the West side of the city.

Three days afterwards, Logik had came to visit him. When he asked Logik (speaking in codes) was anybody from their hood responsible for the massacre. Logik didn’t answered. He just stared at Black with a smirk on his face, then winked his eye at him. At that moment, Black knew without a doubt that Logik was the man that the news said who was dressed in all black.

He uncomfortably waited in the visitation booth on the C.O. to bring out Black. He looked at several other visitors who was there visiting their loved ones. One girl was sitting in the visitor’s booth holding a young child in her arm. Logik figured that she probably was there to visit the child’s father.

Right then, he swore to himself that his child would never have to visit him inside no one’s jailhouse. He snapped out of his thoughts when the C.O. entered the visitation room with Black. Black found the correct booth and sat down.

“What it is homey?” Logik cheerfully spoke, glad to see his comrade but hated that it had to be under those circumstances.

“Ain’t shit, bro. ‘Bout ready to knock off one of these faggot ass C.O.s out, that’s it!” Black replied loudly, hoping the male C.O. heard him before he left the room.

Logik snickered, “I feel ya.”

“But yo, how everything going wit Jazmine and the pregnancy? I hope you ain’t stressing sis’ ass out?”

“Eh’thang straight. She good, we good.”

“That’s wassup.”

Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention, Jazmine was four months pregnant too. She had missed her menstruation period two months in a row and decided to buy a pregnancy test, because she never missed two months straight before. Two lines had showed up on the test stick indicating that she was pregnant. She wanted to be sure that the test hadn’t made a mistake, so she went back to the drug store and bought another one. The outcome of the second test was the same.

“Yo, what ya’ll lawyers saying about ‘chall getting a bond though?” Asked Logik. Black, Mouse, and Twan’s bond had been denied at their last arraignment. The prosecutor “highly” requested that their bonds all be denied because they were a “serious threat to society.
